Psalm 8

Domine, Dominus noster
1
O Lord our Governor, how excellent is your Name in all the world; *
you have set your glory above the heavens!
2
Out of the mouth of babes and infants you have ordained strength, because of your enemies, *
that you might still the enemy and the avenger.
3
When I consider your heavens, even the works of your fingers, *
the moon and the stars, which you have ordained.
4
What is man, that you are mindful of him; *
the son of man, that you visit him?
5
You made him little lower than the angels, *
to crown him with glory and honor.
6
You made him to have dominion over the works of your hands, *
and you have put all things in subjection under his feet;
7
All sheep and oxen, *
even the beasts of the field;
8
The birds of the air, and the fish of the sea; *
and whatsoever walks through the paths of the seas.
9
O Lord our Governor, *
how excellent is your Name in all the world!

Psalm 11

In Domino confido
1
In the Lord I put my trust; *
how then can you say to my soul, “Flee as a bird unto the hill;
2
For behold, the ungodly bend their bow, and make ready their arrow upon the string, *
that they may secretly shoot at those who are true of heart.
3
For the foundations will be cast down, *
and what can the righteous do?”
4
The Lord is in his holy temple; *
the Lord’s throne is in heaven.
5
His eyes consider the poor, *
and his eyelids try the children of men.
6
The Lord tests the righteous, *
but the ungodly, and those who delight in wickedness, his soul abhors.
7
Upon the ungodly he shall rain snares, fire and brimstone, storm and tempest; *
this shall be their portion to drink.
8
For the righteous Lord loves righteousness; *
the upright shall behold his face.
